I used an exfoliant I got as a gift (Nivea brand) for a couple of weeks and got regular sun exposure while doing that (I know, extremely smart from me). Parts of my face got sunburned and I got discolored spots at the temples and on the forehead, whereas other parts of my face get sunburned and are very sensitive to the sun. Even now a year later after my "treatment" the discoloring shows when I get exposed to the sun. Is there a way to get my skin to get even colored again? I am currently not using any skin products. Thanks for your help!
Haha - I know exactly what you're going through, and I've been there myself.
I would suggest using a vitamin C serum in the morning and either a retinoid at night or a discoloration serum (or you could layer them). We're heading into summer, so you may want to wait to start the retinoid until the fall because, similar to the exfoliant you mentioned, it will increase your sensitivity to the sun.
Here are a couple of recommendations for a vitamin C serum and a discoloration serum (pick 1 of each, you don't need all 4):
A vitamin C serum I love for people with sensitive skin (suggesting this one first due to the prior sunburn you mentioned): https://go.shopmy.us/p-1811216
A great budget vitamin C serum that's powerful in its own right by using pure l-ascorbic acid: https://go.shopmy.us/p-3262757
Thanks for those tips! I will start following a basic skin routine with face wash, moisturizer and SPF that you outlined in your other posts + the vitamin C serum now for the summer. Once the sun is less intense (probably don't have to wait that long here in Sweden :D) I will include the retinoid as well.
I have developed rosacea & it's becoming a thing. W/Covid & not having to go to the office I stopped regularly wearing make up - basically was doing cleanse, moisture in the am followed by some mineral sun screen. In the last year my cheeks are always hot pink. What are some ways to get my skin to calm the "f" down.
Great question. Rosacea is technically a medical condition so I'll (mostly) save you from my uneducated opining on the topic, but I can recommend a serum that might help.
Azelaic acid is a phenomenal ingredient for redness, rosacea, and post-inflammatory erythema. You might see benefits from a serum like this: https://go.shopmy.us/p-1457694. I suggest applying 3-5 drops in the morning on clean skin daily for a few weeks to assess if that helps.
It's also worth doing an assessment of your diet and lifestyle to see if you can pinpoint any specific triggers (ex. spicy foods, heat, stress). I believe zinc supplementation has been shown to relieve rosacea in some people as well, but that is outside my scope of knowledge.
Best cleanser and treatment for 40+ guy with combination oily/sensitive skin who gets a lot of small whiteheads around his nose? Most masks are too drying and the CeraVe Ance Control Cleanser doesn't seem to be cutting it. And all those tallow moisturizers? Make it worse. Even Sevo! (Which I'm still traumatized by. 😭)
Haha - I'm sorry to hear that about Sevo, I have acne prone skin and (admittedly, surprisingly) didn't have a big issue with their tallow balm. Thanks for the Q, Michael! Can you shoot me a DM with a picture of whiteheads? I want to see what they look like before recommending something.
Just shot you a message, although I'm not sure if I can send pictures here. Let me know, and I can go through X (formerly twitter) instead if that works. 😁

A bit more budget-friendly discoloration serum that I also like: https://go.shopmy.us/p-1667531

Love to hear it. Let me know how it goes, and best of luck!
How do I treat spider angioma on the end of my nose? I don’t have any chronic illnesses and am not a heavy drinker. Thanks Stacy.
I wish I could help, but this is outside the scope of my knowledge. I hope you're able to find a solution. Best of luck!
