The Best Lip Gloss of 2025?
Putting REM Beauty and EDEAM Glosses to the Test
I used to be completely anti–lip gloss.
For years, I stuck to matte liquid lipsticks because glosses were sticky, messy, and wore off way too fast.
Lately, though, formulas have improved so much that I started getting curious again.
They feel smoother, last longer, and are a lot more comfortable than I remember.
That’s what made me want to put two popular options to the test.
In this article, I’m sharing my experience trying glosses from R.e.m. Beauty and EDEAM to see how each one fits into my routine.
Why I Skipped Gloss for Years
For the longest time, I was strictly a matte lipstick person.
My favorites were Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Queen of Poisons (which used to be called Lolita), NARS Matte Liquid Lipstick in Star Woman, and Sephora’s Cream Lip Stain in Crimson Sunset.
I still repurchase them, especially Queen of Poisons (prev. called Lolita), which I have probably bought more than ten times over the years.

I skipped gloss completely until I tried formulas that felt different, starting with EDEAM.
EDEAM: Skincare for Every Shade
EDEAM was started by chemists to make products that work for everyone, starting with melanin-rich skin.
Using Smart Melanin™ Technology, every formula is tested on all skin types to be gentle, effective, and deliver real results.
I have written about their glosses before in my article My 10 Holy Grail Beauty Products of 2024, and they are still one of my absolute favorites.
The EDEAM Le Chouchou Lip Softening Balm comes in a squeeze tube with a cooling metal tip applicator that feels amazing when you put it on.

It is lighter than R.e.m. Beauty’s, which makes it perfect if you want something weightless but still glossy.

The colors are beautiful.

My favorite is Bissap Glaze, and I used to have Boba Bounce too, but I lost it somewhere along the way.

I should probably buy three more because I love the formula that much.

Even after eating something a little oily, it does not smear everywhere.
It just fades gracefully and still leaves my lips looking plump and healthy, which is something matte lipsticks could never do.
R.e.m. Beauty: Makeup of Tomorrow
R.e.m. Beauty was created by Ariana Grande to give everyone the tools to express themselves and add a little magic to their everyday look.
The brand is all about futuristic shades, multi-tasking products, skincare-infused formulas, and innovative applicators.

I got these R.e.m. Beauty glosses in PR in three colors you can see in the pictures, and I’ve been wearing them a lot.
The color is light, giving more of a “your lips but better” look, and they stay on surprisingly well.
The texture feels light and not overly sticky.
Surprisingly, I actually love that they’re not super pigmented because it makes them easy to wear every day, even if I’m just in sweatpants and want to look a little more put together.
The formula is a little thicker and heavier than EDEAM’s, which might make it last longer for you (it does in my opinion).
If you like more pigment, EDEAM is the better choice, but if longevity is more important, go for R.e.m. Beauty.
If you have sensory issues or just prefer something lighter, EDEAM might be the way to go, but if you want a light, non-sticky gloss you can reach for daily, R.e.m. Beauty is worth trying.
Verdict
Trying EDEAM and R.e.m. Beauty at the same time showed me they’re both great, just in different ways.
EDEAM feels light and comfy, and it makes my lips look healthy even after it wears down. I love the colors, and the metal tip feels really nice when I put it on.
R.e.m. Beauty feels a little thicker, which helps it stay on longer, and the softer color makes it easy to wear anywhere.
But still, I can’t help but love a bold lip.
So I think I’m more of a lip gloss girl during the day and a liquid lipstick girl at night.
Both of these will stay in my makeup bag for totally different reasons, and I’m glad I tested them side by side.
Cheers,
