Does Fasting Reverse Aging?
On Fasting, Essential Minerals, and the Path to Glowing Skin.
Fasting has long been a go-to strategy for me, whether it’s for weight management, combating acne breakouts, or simply because life gets hectic and I forget to eat.
To make the process more manageable, I’ve found that intentionally supporting my health with key minerals is essential.
Recently, I put SOURCE—a product from my friend Alex, the founder of SOURCE Minerals—to the test during a 24-hour fast, and I was pleasantly surprised by the results.
Unlike most supplement blends, SOURCE doesn’t have that unpleasant taste; instead, it’s slightly sweet thanks to the glycine, and it’s loaded with essential minerals.
While I'm no supplement expert, I consistently take multi-form magnesium, potassium chloride, creatine, and glycine (in the form of magnesium glycinate and gelatin) every day.
If you're curious, you can explore more about my supplement routine here.
Fasting isn’t for everyone, but it can be a powerful tool for better skin by reducing AGEs and inflammation, which can work wonders if you struggle with premature wrinkling, acne, or rosacea.
However, it's worth noting that fasting might negatively impact our collagen.
Beyond the studies, however, personal experience is what I rely on most.
After fasting, especially extended fasting, I always notice my skin looks less blotchy and oily, and my breakouts come to a halt.
For this particular fast, I tried SOURCE, and now I’ll turn it over to Alex to share more about how SOURCE can support your fasting journey.

Unlock Radiant Skin with Fasting and SOURCE Minerals
There are many modern tools and techniques that promise glowing, radiant skin.
But sometimes, the effective secrets to a health can be found by looking to the past.
Our ancestors possessed a deep understanding of the body and its rhythms. One of their most powerful beauty secrets is still true to us today: the ancient practice of fasting.
Fasting is an incredible tool for many different purposes.
Some people use it to get leaner, some for deep healing, and others to clear up their skin and make it younger. Let’s dive deep.
Fasting may help with collagen production, which in turn can make skin more resilient and elastic, and reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
Inflammation can contribute to skin aging, and fasting may help reduce inflammation.
This could help with skin disorders related to inflammatory responses—think of acne, psoriasis, etc.
Factors like UV rays, pollution, and lifestyle habits cause oxidative stress.
Less oxidative stress can lead to fewer acne eruptions, tighter skin, and healthier-looking skin.
Improve the acid mantle—a thin, slightly acidic layer of sebum (the natural oil your skin produces) and sweat that sits on top of your skin.
This will make your skin more resilient to dirt and harmful bacteria.
Last, probably the most impactful, is acceleration of autophagy - a natural process that occurs when a cell breaks down and recycles old, damaged, or abnormal parts of itself. Process of regeneration.
There is no surprise why so many people love intermittent fasting:
It costs nothing.
You always know what you are going to eat and when.
Easy to follow.
Some doctors have even started to catch up and incorporate intermittent fasting into their practices.
It sounds too good to be true.
But it is.
Except for a tiny detail…
Fasting can be challenging.
Cravings, low energy, and brain fog are not fun to deal with.
To avoid all these symptoms, water is supposed to have a special class of minerals called electrolytes.
However, the majority of bottled water doesn't have these minerals, or the amount is abysmal.
So, it is critical to add quality electrolytes with the right balance to your water while you are doing fasting, especially a prolonged one.
You may rightfully ask, "Okay, so which electrolytes should I get to minimize cravings and energized during my fasting window? It sounds complex!"
That's a great question; thankfully, you don't have to spend countless hours researching confusing data.
We already did it for you and created SOURCE!
SOURCE is a pure, clean electrolyte mix specifically designed for intermittent fasting and daily hydration.
SOURCE will help you carb cravings, feel energized, and eliminate headaches.
It has the most essential electrolytes in the most bioavailable structure.
Sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate.
potassium chloride.
Magnesium, in its two most absorbable forms, is arguably one of the most important elements for our health
Magnesium can help protect skin from damage by regulating cellular regeneration and repair.
The last part is glycine.
It is an amino - acid that has an additional positive effect on improving skin texture and elasticity.
This mix has helped people reap the benefits of fasting while continuing with their lives as usual!

I’ll quit yapping now, but I hope you learned something from this closer look at how fasting can improve your skin and why I’m really into SOURCE for anyone exploring this path.
For me, the most important point to drive home is how fasting can reduce inflammation because I’m acne-prone.
For more on managing acne, you can check out these articles: Mitigating Acne Issues on TRT, Clearing Back Acne and Hyperpigmentation, and How to Get Rid of Acne Scarring: A Comprehensive Guide.
I don’t know a ton about the right ratios that go into electrolyte mixes, but I do know SOURCE has most of the supplements I take regularly for hydration, and I felt great when testing it out.
I even brought it with me on my recent extended international trip so I didn’t have to carry 5 different bags of. . . suspicious white powder, haha.
“It’s just creatine, Officer! I swear!”
Aaaand I was pleasantly surprised at the slightly sweet taste, considering you have to choke most supplement blends down. Between Ramp Health’s B4 (Citrus Smooth is my favorite flavor) and Source, I almost wonder if we’re entering an era of brands prioritizing the customer experience.
The only point I’ll call out here is that I still add some extra magnesium chloride to my water with the SOURCE mixture.
In conclusion, if you’re thinking about fasting or just want to stay hydrated, I definitely recommend giving SOURCE a try.
And, as always, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
Cheers,
